Minister of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus, Cyprus


Constantinos Petrides assumed office as Minister of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus on 3rd of December 2019. Prior to his appointment, he served as Minister of Interior (1 May 2017 - 3 December 2019) and Deputy Minister to the President of the Republic of Cyprus since (1st March 2013 – 30 April 2017). From September 2011 to February 2013 was the Director of the Office of the President of the Democratic Rally. In 2006 he was hired at the European Commission in Brussels where he worked as an economist at the Directorate General for Agriculture and the Directorate General for Competition until September 2011. During his stay at the European Commission he served as negotiator of trade liberalization agreements between the EU and third countries and also worked on issues of public aid in the field of transportations. From 2000 until 2006 he served as Senior Officer at the Association of Cyprus Banks and as representative of the Association to the European Banking Federation and the National Euro Changeover Committee. During the negotiations for Cyprus’ accession to the EU in 2000 he worked on issues of harmonization at the Directorate for EU-Cyprus relations of the Planning Bureau. He studied Economics at the University of Nottingham and then acquired an MSc in Political Economy of Transition in Europe from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences.

Michalis P. Michael is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency since January 2018. He has a long professional career in business and audit services, both as a sole practitioner and as a Partner at KPMG Cyprus. Michalis has vast experience in the Ukrainian market and he is the Chairman of the Cyprus-Ukraine Business Association from 2012 until today. Michalis has been actively involved with public life since his early career. Formerly, he served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (1996-2000), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Organisation of Land Development (2000-2003), Member of the Committee for the Supervision and Development of Cooperative Societies (2003-2013). He was also Member of the Board of Directors of The Cyprus University of Technology (2014-2016), where he currently holds the position of Vice-President (July 2016-today). Michalis is a Chartered Certified Accountant, a Fellow member of the UK Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus, of which he also served as a Member of the Board of Directors.

Chief Executive Officer, Invest Cyprus 


George Campanellas is the Chief Executive Officer of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (Invest Cyprus) and the Vice President of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA). He has nearly twenty years of professional experience in Cyprus and abroad, working with the DG Competition in Brussels and directly with the Cypriot Ministers of Health and Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism. George has been actively involved in the development of the oil & gas sector in the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone, dealing with licensing, exploration and exploitation activities, as well as promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation at a regional level. Throughout his career, he also had an active role in drafting the regulatory framework and running the relevant licensing procedures for attracting Foreign Direct Investment in sectors of strategic importance and large-scale infrastructure projects, such as the LNG terminal at Vasilikos Energy Center, Cyprus Techno Park, EuroAsia Interconnector and the City of Dreams Mediterranean, Europe’s largest integrated casino resort and Cyprus’ largest FDI project.

Theo Parperis is a Partner at PwC Cyprus. He is a member of the Management Board of the company and Head of Tax and Legal Services. He has vast experience in Tax and Statutory Compliance for International groups, advising and assisting International Clients with group restructuring plans, providing solutions for private clients and High Net Worth Individuals, covering their corporate and private wealth interests, family office structuring, corporate and private wealth consolidation and reporting, tax and legal support in acquisition/sale of private assets and citizenship & naturalisation services. Theo is primarily engaged with international clients operating in a broad range of sectors, including trade in oil and commodities (e.g. metals), transportation, shipping, tourism, manufacturing, information and technology. He is a graduate of London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He is also a full member of STEP. Theo has also served as president of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) from June 2011 to June 2013.

He joined in 2009 following his previous employment where he has Andreas has over 6 years’ experience working on specialist corporate recovery and insolvency cases, with exposure to a diverse portfolio of formal insolvency and corporate recovery assignments across various industry sectors in fast-moving business environments. Andreas also worked within the financial investigations’ division of this global firm. Emilios Tannousis is the Manager Wealth Management at Bank of Cyprus. With an experience of almost 20 years in the Wealth and Asset management industry he is covering the Private Banking and the Institutional Wealth Management units of the Bank. He is responsible for guiding the Private Banking teams in covering the banking and the investment needs of local & foreign Private clients, UHNW individuals and their families. He has been heading for 6 years the Institutional Wealth Management desk of the Bank covering Institutional clients’ investments and wealth management portfolios. Previously he has served as Head Asset Management in LFS Ltd and Senior Asset Manager in COOP Central Bank. He started his career as a Financial Analyst and a Foreign Fund Manager in Demetra Investments in collaboration with Ryan Beck & Co, New York. Emilios is a holder of BSc (Honours) in Economics and Finance from the University of Indianapolis, USA and MSc holder in Economic Development and International Finance from the University of Reading, UK. He is a Fellow Charter Certified Accountant (FCCA), member of the ICPAC and a founding member of CIFA. Anja Arsalides joined Invest Cyprus in 2010. During her career path, she has gained broad experiencein the field of business development and international client relations, while promoting the country inall key sectors of the Economy. Prior to this, she has worked in the USA, including the Financial Sectorat Bank of America’s corporate banking division in Dallas, Texas. Another important career milestone included the German Futures & Options Exchange in Frankfurt, where she was part of the marketsurveillance team overseeing regulations and supporting the exchange members.

Stephanie Panayi is leading the Strategic Projects Unit, dedicated to attract and facilitate foreign direct investments into sectors of strategic importance for the Cyprus Government, including hospitality & tourism, healthcare, energy infrastructure and large commercial real estate. She is experienced in the field of foreign direct investment, asset management, private equity, investor relations management and business development. Her role is focused on identifying big-ticket investment opportunities across strategic goals, available in both the public and the private sector in Cyprus, while she is also engaged in the communication with Institutional Investors. Stephanie’s studies include Applied Foreign Languages Degree and MSc in International Management & Business. She is also a holder of Hotel Asset Management Certificate from Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne and Private Equity Investment Certificate from IFF, UK. Ms Panayi is also the President of the Cyprus Federation of Young Business and Professional Women (Young BPW). She is fluent in Greek, English and French and conversant in Russian.

Christophe de Bruyn is the CEO of THR (Innovative Tourism Advisors). Grant Johnson is the Property General Manager of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos. Prior to that, Grant was SVP, Casino Sales, Marketing & Operations at Studio City in Macau, and previously was SVP, Casino Sales & Marketing for Altira Macau and Mocha Clubs where he received his first casino–related marketing responsibilities, as part of Melco’s Foundation Acceleration Program. Grant handled various non-gaming marketing roles throughout Melco properties in Macau. Grant Johnson began his career with Melco in 2011. Before joining Melco, he was with Sands China Ltd. from 2007-2011 in a variety of marketing roles and was the Executive Director, Destination Marketing when he left. Prior to Sands, he worked for the National Basketball Association from 2005-2007 as its Director of Marketing, Asia; and from 1995-2005, he was with E.J. Krause & Associates (organizer of international conferences) and was VP, Marketing Asia when he left. Grant received his BS, Marketing from State University of New York.

With extensive hands-on business experience in the hotel industry, Thanos Michaelides has been the owner and CEO of Thanos Hotels and Resorts since 1993. The Group owns three five-star resorts, Anassa, Annabelle and Almyra and the four-star Aloe in Paphos. In operation since 1970, the Group employs more than 1,100 people and has won numerous prestigious international awards. Since 2017 Mr Michaelides is the Chairman of the District Committee of PASYXE Paphos (Cyprus Hotel Association), and a member of the Board of Directors of the Pafos Innovation Institute. In addition, he is the owner and director of Anthana Ltd, a retail company selling designer brand fashion throughout
Cyprus. In the past he was the founder and CEO of the London based tour operator The Mediterranean Experience Ltd. Mr Michaelides holds an MBA from the London Business School of Economics and is a graduate of Brandeis University (Boston, USA) with a degree in Economics and Political Science.

Andreas K. Santis is the Managing Director - Office Head for W. Balkans, Greece and Cyprus and the Director of Cyprus Affiliates at NCH Capital Inc. Andreas has joined NCH Capital Inc. and he is responsible for identifying new investment opportunities and for expanding and developing NCH activities in the region including but not limited to the real estate and hospitality sectors. From 2001 until 2014 Andreas has been actively involved in the real estate business and in the development of small to large scale projects in countries like Greece, UAE, Bulgaria and Cyprus. Polis Georghiades is the Chief Executive Officer of SYNLAB CYPRUS, a subsidiary of SYNLAB International, the largest in the European market for human medicine laboratory services. Polis is one of the few who dedicated his career of over twenty years solely in the Healthcare Industry. Soon after graduating from Southampton University with an M.B.A Healthcare Management, he joined the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre which served for ten years as a Commissioning manager /Operational Manager and Quality Manager as well when he steered the organization into a successful Accreditation with CHKS International Standards. In 2008 he joined Quale Healthcare Consulting firm offering services in Quality and Accreditation in healthcare providers in Cyprus, UK and Germany before taking on the position of C.E.O of Aretaeio hospital which he served for five years until his current appointment at SYNLAB in 2018. Throughout his Management career in Healthcare industry he has become International Auditor of Quality in CHKS, UK, he was awarded the “ Quality Leader of the Year” award in 2016, served private hospitals as a Board Member and was elected as a President of the Cyprus health services promotion board.

Dr Marinos Soteriou is the founder and chairman of the board of the American Medical Center/American Heart Institute, a private hospital offering high quality tertiary care medical services. He is the director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. Throughout his career, Dr Soteriou has been a member of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery, member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, fellow of the American College of Surgery, fellow of the American College of Cardiology, founding president of the European Resuscitation Council – Cyprus Chapter and he has been the President of the Cyprus Society of Thoracic Surgery. He pursued an academic career at the department of surgery at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee, USA where Dr Soteriou is serving as an assistant professor of clinical surgery at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Dr Marinos Soteriou holds a medical degree from the University of Cologne, Germany and a PhD degree from the University of Zürich, Switzerland. Currently he maintains a medical license in the state of Tennessee, USA and in the Republic of Cyprus. He is certified with a diploma of the American Board of Surgery and a Diploma of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr Soteriou has numerous scientific publications in medical peer reviewed journals, and presentations in international medical meetings.
